Fourth Annual Meeting

Arterial Stiffness: If You Don’t Measure It, You Can’t Manage It

September 5-6, 2014 | Chicago, IL

The Fourth Annual Meeting program continued to build on the success of last year’s meeting.  The breadth of this year’s program included presentations focusing on clinical perspectives and prognosis, impact of drugs on blood pressure and arterial hemodynamics, new devices for determining central arterial hemodynamics, lifestyle interventions, reimbursement issues, and basic and translational science.  Drs. John Cockcroft and Donald Lloyd-Jones faced off for the debate on whether arterial stiffness should or shouldn’t be a part of cardiovascular risk assessment, which was once again the highlight of the meeting.

The Meeting also saw a significant increase in the number of abstract presentations with over 30 oral and posters presented.  Two presenters received awards from NAA; Hon Lam Choi, RDMS, CRGS from McMaster University was presented with the Early Investigator Award, and Takashi Tarumi, PhD from the University of Texas received the Best Abstract Award, which was a new award instituted by NAA this year.

The number of exhibits featuring this year’s conference supporters increased to seven.  NAA is grateful to AtCor Medical, the Diamond Dinner Sponsor, Fukuda Denshi, a Platinum Sponsor, and to the Gold sponsors, Hitachi Aloka Medical, I.E.M. GmbH, Itamar Medical, Medical Imaging Applications, and Omron Healthcare for their support of the Annual Meeting.
